Mob enemy bosses are never really too hard in games, and even though the Deacons of the Deep are harder than Dark Souls 2’s mob boss, the Royal Rat Vanguard, they are still very easy once you realise Dark Souls is pulling a trick on you: normally you would be encouraged to hang back, plan your attack and pick your moments carefully, but his boss fight is really just about charging straight in and battering the red deacon as much as possible. Memorise his patterns and hit him at the right times.
Gundyr’s first stage is predictable and easy, but his second complicates things a bit, as he hits a lot harder and his moveset is harder to telegraph due to the fact he is literally just a giant mass of…something? Luckily his second stage is very weak to fire, so pyromancers shouldn’t suffer, but even so, melee builds shouldn’t really struggle much either.
Since he is only the first boss in the game, you wouldn’t expect him to be too difficult, but he is certainly harder than the first bosses in Dark Souls 1 and 2. Bear in mind that there will obviously be my own opinion in there too! Similarly to the previous parts, part one, and part two, I will not be taking NG+ or further playthroughs into account, and will be using my specially designed You Died Scale (you guessed it, still just a 1-10).Īs a bonus, at the end of this list I will provide the top ten hardest bosses from the three souls games together. Obviously everybody has their own experiences with bosses, but this list is generally weighted on a multitude of factors, including: boss moves, health, strategy, changes midway through the fight, suitability for different builds, arena and weaknesses. Unlike the first two, which I played through multiple times, I have only beaten Dark Souls 3 once, so my judgement will be somewhat limited. Having put many hours into the game, I have defeated every boss and now feel ready to give my list.
